21-22 August: racing crew of A.Birukov/D.Kniga takes part in 3rd Open Jeep Trials Cup of Republic of Belarus NOC as part of the team YAROVIT-ROSAGROLEASING

On August 21-22, the 3rd stage of the Third Republic of Belarus National Olympic Committee Open jeep trials Cup took place in Zhodino, dedicated to 60th anniversary of liberation of the Republic from the German Nazi invaders. 18 crews lined up at the event starting line. Throughout the two tournament days, the crews have been fighting with each other, the weather and the rather complex track.
Saturday met the participants, spectators and organizers with the kind of weather fit for classical trials. The 6 track sections became a true test not only for the vehicles, but for the crews as well. Complicated track sections, the most extreme throughout the history of the tournaments according to the participants, called for utmost attention and concentration.
The crew starting as number 21 (Valeri Gubarev / Alexei Mayevsky) driving a UAZ-469 were the best to cope with the classical trials in B1 Category. The first day was not lucky for the crew of Roman Chilek / Vladimir Schupletsov. Because of the vehicle breakdown in the third section, the crew had to give up their fight. No better was Saturday for the Cup leaders Mikhail Gretchikha and Eugeni Ignatovich, whose vehicle also let them down.
The first place in the classical trials section in B2 Category was won by the crew starting as number 77 (Alexander Dydyshko / Roman Dydyshko). The first day was no good for the Cup leaders the crew of Andrei Husak and Valeri Yermolinski.
In Hobby Category, nobody could rival the crew of Anton Altartsev / Leonid Kissel (UAZ-469B). Incidentally, a representative of the fair sex Elena Koshchenko was the first one to participate in the Hobby Category. She was navigator to her husband Andrei Koshchenko. The mixed crew emerged fourth in their category.

On Sunday, traditionally, the carrousel race was launched. Four times the crews in categories B1 and B2 started off on 8-lap distances. Some crews tried to make up for the points lost in the trials, others, on the contrary, avoided the risks and tried to keep their hard-won advantage. Somersaults could not be avoided. The crew of Serguei Zhechko / Serguei Gritsanchuk failed to take in the terrain and, barely after starting off, tipped over on the vehicle side. The crew of YAROVIT-ROSAGROLEASING Andrei Birukov / Vladimir Khomaneyev became indisputable leaders of the speed race. Andrei Birukov’s crew riding aMitsubishi Pajero really flew above the track lap by lap and showed the best time of the day. All in all, only four crews in Category B1 succeeded negotiating more than half of the track distance.
The awarding ceremony and the traditional shower of champagne for winners of the 3rd stage happened under rain. Yet, caprices of weather could not mar the general sentiment that the sporting festivity created. Resultant from the two days of competing, the following crews took their places on the podium:
