Braking system

GLOROS trucks are equipped with a master (service) brake system, an auxiliary, an emergency and a parking brake systems, all of them ensuring reliable braking and safety of driving.

The master brake system is of dual circuit type, split for the front and the rear axles. The brake is of drum type, equipped with a pneumatic drive, which prevents dust and water from getting on the brake work surfaces and ensures a high constant of friction even at high temperatures. Automatic self-adjustment of clearances in the brake couple provides additional safety of braking.

The auxiliary brake system incorporates a pneumatically-driven engine brake. Emergency and parking braking are provided by spring brakes.

The pneumatic brake system has been developed with participation of experts of the companies WABCO and KNORR-BREMSE, and is based on the state-of-the-art technologies and know-how of these manufacturers.

Drying the air in the brakes is very important for preventing freezing of the brake system components, which guarantees uninterrupted operation functioning of the system in winter time and minimizes corrosion in piping and the devices. This results in proper reliability and functional readiness as well as a considerably longer service life of the entire brake system. To this end, the compressed air feed system is equipped with a fine media filter (oil-and-moisture separator) and, as an option offered for trucks operated in polar regions, an additional coarse media filter and an alcohol antifreeze dispenser.

ABS unit and modulator
 
An antilock brake system (ABS) is installed on all truck models, which guarantees reliable control of the vehicle in complex weather conditions. The algorithm of functioning of the ABS, along with corresponding devices of the fuel system, performs the additional function of limiting the vehicle maximum speed.
